Edible Textiles / The New Reds

Common Thread has received several new handwoven 48" width cotton fabrics in tantalizing tones of red. These are all-purpose medium-weight plain weave fabrics, hand-loomed by textile artisans in Guatemala.

In addition to rich maroon and burgundy weaves, we have two new hues; burgundy with light orange weft, and red with white weft--a vintage classic, "chambray". The burgundy & orange fabric exudes an edible inner glow.. Visualize cinnamon with chile molido & caramelized brown sugar.

Experience the warmth and vibrancy of these new colors and textures at Common Thread in Taos,NM..

Locally Designed: Churro Felt Panel, Silk Velvet Wearable Textile, Table Covering, Handloomed Fabric by the Yard
Left: Burgundy with Light Orange Weft / Right: Red with White Weft (Chambray)

Heritage Blankets of New Mexico

Heritage Blankets are handloomed in a diversity of natural undyed shades of Navajo-Churro wool  raised and spun in Northern New Mexico. The rugged Navajo-Churro breed has been used by self-sufficient  Native American and Spanish New Mexican agricultural communities since the 17th century, and is currently listed as an endangered breed. The production of this beautiful product promotes the continued raising of Navajo-Churro sheep, provides employment for weavers, and supports a sustainable rural economy. These medium-weight blankets measure approximately 4'x6'.

New Stripes / Four Corners Style

Four Corners Stripe
Common Thread has recently commissioned a woven fabric designed to coordinate with colors associated with Navajo Churro Sheep, and a palette often seen in Navajo rug designs, including Two Grey Hills. Four Corners Stripe is inspired by the natural and earth tonalities of Northern New Mexico and the Colorado Plateau. This 100% cotton heavyweight fabric is handwoven in Guatemala. Available in three weft alternatives: black, burgundy, and red. Suitable for many uses. Visit LLOOM Textiles for online purchase.
