Hand Carved, Textile Woodblocks / New Shipment

Common Thread has received another supply of wood printing blocks from India. Retired from duty, these masterfully carved woodblocks were used for printing patterns on textiles. In their worn condition, these vintage and semi-vintage blocks are also suitable for printing on paper, or imprinting in clay. Or, they are simply beautiful, as objects for decoration.

From Wikipedia: Woodblocks for textile printing may be made of box, lime, holly, sycamore, plane or pear wood, the latter three being most generally employed. See Article: "Woodblock Printing on Textiles"

Boteh (Paisley): A droplet-shaped vegetable motif
Each woodblock is one-of-a-kind. An endless variety of design elements.
